THE LOOKING GLASS

LINKS

I am a fan of these sites:

http://lornadice.blogspot.com. This is a blog of one of my favorite Chicana poets, Lorna Dee Cervantes. It updates you on Lorna’s recent projects, news and commentaries, above all her poems. I especially recommend Poem For The Young White Man Who Asked Me How I, An Intelligent, Well-Read Person, Could Believe In The War Between Races for reading.

http://www.sandracisneros.com. This is the official website of another favorite Chicana poet/novelist, Sandra Cisneros, who wrote the award-winning novel The House on Mango Street and Woman Hollering Creek.

www.devcompage.com owned by Dr. Monina M. Escalada, a professor/researcher of Development Communication at the Visayas State University, Visca, Baybay, Leyte, Philippines. I recommend this site for communicators/development workers intent on using communication to advance development. One could learn a lot, communication theories and the use of communication strategies, from this internationally awarded communication scientist with decades of work helping farmers in the Mekong Delta, in China and Thailand reduce pesticide use. Dr. Escalada update her blogs regularly and offers thesis coaching/advising through this site.

www.adamsreef.net owned by Jean Claire Dy, a media arts instructor at UP Mindanao. Claire is a feminist and a journalist who dabbles in performance arts (dance), creative writing and photography. She is also into everything new media and plans to design an interactive site for the retelling of women’s stories using Genette’s Theory of Diegesis as part of her Ford IFP Fellowship. There are a lot to learn from this creative and erudite young woman who posts diverse concerns from feminism to cultural criticism to visual arts and of what she calls her “rants.”

http://www.care2.com/greenliving a site to living healthy and green. It has everything from environment-friendly arts and craft, to green beauty regimens and healthy, all natural diet.
